Accessibility statement

We want every writer to be able to find and track deadlines on Script Deadlines, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification or voice control.

Our commitment

We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 (the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) at Level AA across scriptdeadlines.com, and we follow WCAG 2.2 Level AA where we can. This statement was last reviewed on October 20, 2026.

What we do

  • Every page has a skip link, clear headings, labelled landmarks and a descriptive page title.
  • Everything works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline, including search, filters, the printable calendar's checkboxes and layout switch, and the signup form.
  • Text and controls meet WCAG contrast ratios, and pages reflow to a 320px-wide screen and 200% zoom without sideways scrolling.
  • The calendar view is a real table with day and month labels, and every deadline also appears as a plain list.
  • Links that open a new tab say so to screen readers, and animation is turned off if your device asks for reduced motion.
  • We test every change with automated accessibility checks (axe-core) and keyboard-only walkthroughs before it goes live.

Known limitations

  • Contest pages link to organizers' own sites, and payment links open Stripe checkout. We don't control how accessible those sites are.
  • The downloadable full PDF calendar is a plain table without screen-reader tags. If it doesn't work well with your screen reader, use the printable calendar page or the full list, which have the same deadlines.
  • The "Tell us about your contest" and newsletter sponsor forms open your own email app to send the message. If that doesn't work for you, email us directly (see below).
  • Automated tools can't catch everything. We haven't yet had a full audit by a screen reader user, and we'd value your feedback.
